What is Addiction Management?

At Clarity Mental Health and Wellness, we understand that addiction is a complex and deeply personal challenge, but recovery is possible with the right support. Addiction management is a comprehensive, individualized service designed to help you or a loved one overcome substance use disorders (e.g., alcohol, opioids, stimulants) or behavioral addictions (e.g., gambling, internet). Our multidisciplinary team of licensed professionals provides evidence-based care to address the physical, emotional, and social aspects of addiction, empowering you to reclaim control and build a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Our addiction management services combine medical, therapeutic, and supportive interventions to address the root causes of addiction, manage cravings, and prevent relapse. Whether you’re seeking help for the first time, navigating recovery, or supporting a loved one, we offer compassionate, non-judgmental care tailored to your unique needs. Our goal is to guide you toward lasting recovery with dignity and hope.

What to Expect in Addiction Management

Your journey with addiction management at Clarity Mental Health and Wellness is personalized and collaborative. Here’s what you can expect:

    • Initial Evaluation: Your first appointment involves a comprehensive assessment with a psychiatric provider and/or therapist. They’ll explore your substance use history, mental health, medical conditions, and recovery goals to create a tailored treatment plan. This may include lab tests or coordination with medical providers for withdrawal management.

    • Treatment Plan: Based on the evaluation, your team will recommend a combination of services, such as MAT, therapy, group support, or family involvement. You’ll discuss the frequency and format of sessions (in-person or telehealth) and any medications, ensuring you understand the process and feel empowered.

    • Ongoing Care: Treatment typically involves regular appointments, including weekly therapy, medication management check-ins, or group sessions. MAT patients receive close monitoring to adjust dosages and ensure safety. You’ll learn skills to manage triggers, prevent relapse, and build a sober support network.

    • Relapse Prevention: Your team will help you develop a relapse prevention plan, including coping strategies, emergency contacts, and access to crisis counseling. We view relapse as a learning opportunity, not a failure, and provide support to get back on track.

    • Long-Term Support: As you progress, we focus on sustaining recovery through maintenance therapy, support groups, or periodic check-ins. We may connect you with community resources, such as sober living programs or peer support networks, to reinforce your success.

Commonly Utilized Approaches in Addiction Management

    • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT): Combines medications (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone) with counseling to reduce cravings and withdrawal, improving recovery outcomes for opioid and alcohol use disorders. MAT is supported by extensive research and organizations like the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps you identify and change thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to addiction, building skills to manage triggers and stress. CBT is highly effective for substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions.

    • Motivational Interviewing (MI): A client-centered approach that enhances your motivation to change by exploring ambivalence and setting achievable goals. MI is widely used in early recovery to build commitment.

    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Teaches emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills, particularly for individuals with co-occurring borderline personality disorder or intense cravings.

    • Relapse Prevention Therapy (RPT): A CBT-based approach that focuses on identifying high-risk situations, developing coping strategies, and creating a personalized plan to maintain sobriety.
